So last night my husband and I face-timed his sister and hubby for a catch-up. They should have been in Hawaii on their honeymoon but instead, they were sat on their sofa with the heating turned on full! We talked through their trip and where they were off next (Vegas Baby!) and it got me thinking.

Postponing your wedding is not something you ever envisaged when planning. But yet we are here, with many couples celebrating what would have been their special day or honeymoons in the comfort of their own homes.

Yes it is heartbreaking but I don't think the day or adventure should pass by like any other - you would have been celebrating so why not still celebrate the original dates?

Heres some suggestions on how you can do just that!

Get dressed up!

Now I know many of us are finding it hard to get out of our PJs right now but today is THAT day to make the effort. Get dressed up, put on your lippy, wear the perfume or aftershave you had chosen for your wedding day. Today is date day people!

Pop that cork!

Okay, if you've already popped that cork several times (every day is a Friday right!) but this day, or a week,  is absolutely worth celebrating, with good food and drink which is everything weddings and holidays are!

Zoom Party!

Gather your friends and family for the time of your ceremony and raise a glass to you and the future. You will see those important faces and hear those voices, and you could even consider having your readings or a mini-speech.

Dinner Time!

Today was the day that you were going to enjoy your favourite foods. Why not order a take away from your favourite restaurant, or just enjoy spending time in the kitchen cooking together. Set the dinner table and light a candle to! Put the wedding playlist on in the background and reminisce on your life together.

Have your first dance

This one should appeal to all those couples that were dreading that first dance in front of all of your guests. In the privacy of your living room take this time to celebrate your day.

Cuddle up!

Honeymoons are all about your time and reminiscing on your life together. Yes, you can not talk about the wedding day, YET, but you can still enjoy time together. Why not get your old photos out and cuddle up on the sofa and share stories of the years you have shared.

Say cheese!

Make sure you get some fab photos of the two of you that you can look back on.

Set the scene.

Maybe you were off to a tropical island or a winter ski break. Whatever you were doing why not have some fun being creative and pretending you are there! For Vegas, some card games and a few vodka shots will help! The sun is shining so get out in the garden with those Pina Coladas.

Just a few ideas on how you can enjoy the day and have some fun. Remember that times like these the only positive thing we can do is make memories with our loved ones.

Congratulations and happy honeymoon!
