Wedding consultation

Congratulations! You are engaged. Now for some serious wedding planning! For many brides the most natural thing to do is hire a wedding planner, however, the thought of having a complete stranger be apart of your day can seem a little daunting.

What is a consultation? A consultation is a chance for you to meet me! To get to know one another and talk through your wedding plans and ideas. It’s often at this time that couples share their individual likes and dislikes with me, and each other, and from this meeting, we will all have a much better idea of the overall vision of the wedding.

I will talk about suppliers, venues, logistics or simply the planning process and how it is going to work for the following months ahead. I will ask a lot of questions and it’s great if you come prepared with questions of your own for me. Although I’ve planned many weddings I have not planned yours so it’s really important to hear your thoughts.

It’s during this initial consultation that I establish just how much assistance you need. It could be that you want to take the lead throughout the entire process and just have me there for guidance or On The Day Coordination or it could be that you are so incredibly busy that you just want to choose the pretty things and leave the logistics to me and opt for the Full Wedding Planning.

There are normally three key things I need to know at this early stage:

1 Roughly how many guests will be attending

2 Venue ideas

3 Your budget

Number 3 on that list is really important. I know that no-one likes to talk about money but you really do need to when it comes to your wedding. Have an honest conversation about how much you really want to spend on your wedding day. What things are really important to you and where are you willing to compromise? Be honest with me and realistic about your budget.

Following on from our consultation which normally takes about two hours I will go away and put together a proposal that covers everything we have discussed, what my services include and how I intend to help you plan your wedding. It is at this point that you will decide if you would like to book me as your wedding planner.

A good proposal will show you how well a planner has understood your vision. You won’t receive any venue and supplier recommendations or design ideas at this point as this will come once you have signed the contract and we start work together.

Once we get that all confirmed, you just need to pay the deposit and sign the contract - then we can get started planning your wedding!

Happy Couple
