Marquee weddings certainly aren’t what they used to be as couples now have some seriously stylish options available. Marquee weddings in Cornwall have always held a special place in my heart. Growing up and living by stunning coastlines and epic country hills there is no wonder why couples choose to pitch up and create something utterly amazing with a breathtaking view!

  1. A marquee built especially for you.

Marquee companies have really raised the bar when it comes to what can be achieved now with no two marquee weddings quite the same. Unlike the restrictions of a some wedding venues where one-size must fit all, the marquee size will be tailored to suit your exact needs, to suit the number of guests you are going to have to give you a marquee built for you, making it unique for your wedding day.

Now you have space – what can you do with it? First, you get to choose the interior that suits your style – There are lots of different variations, from hire furniture to fairy lights and interior roof linings. From the reception area and the bar, to the dining and dancing areas, the vision is yours to create. And if you’re stuck, your marquee company or a wedding planner has lots of ideas!

2) A blank canvas to create your own theme.

When it comes to planning your wedding, it’s the little details that really matter so as well as considering the exterior of the marquee you need to think about how the interior will be decorated too. One of the most exciting advantages of marquee hire is that you can be as creative as you like with your themes and colours. You can choose a modern style, or classic, country, vintage or beach themes…the list is endless and the choice is yours! From carpet colours and ceiling installations to festoon lights and fancy chandeliers, whatever your vision you can create a beautiful atmosphere of your choice. You can even have bespoke dance floors that create a fantastic focal point and are irresistible for dancing!

3) Fewer restrictions

As a wedding planner, I struggle with restrictions! To really be able to set the scene and create something wonderful a completely blank canvas is a huge luxury. When it comes to logistics and timings your options are endless and you can really go to town. You may find you want a wedding at your family home or just in a field with an amazing view. Restrictions on numbers, timings, and logistics are so flexible so if you are the type of couple that wants to be completely bespoke then a marquee is perfect for you.

4) Your budget

A marquee wedding can be very cost-effective, especially if you’re planning a wedding with guests in the hundreds. Choosing a marquee means you only pay a fixed cost depending on the marquee size. Venues may charge per head on the number of guests attending and that can end up blowing your budget. Whatever the size of your budget, a marquee wedding gives you greater flexibility to work within your marquee hire price range. You get to choose your own decor, caterer, menu, bar, and florist – there is a great range of suppliers for all budgets. A marquee may initially seem expensive and a lot more work, but remember, you have absolute freedom over how you fill your day. Your wedding can be as simple or as elaborate as you like.

5) Choosing your own suppliers

Being able to select your wedding suppliers is so useful. Although it is great that some venues offer a recommended suppliers list they are not always the suppliers you had envisaged. Choosing your own caterer means you get to choose exactly what you want to eat, rather than being limited by a set menu. From pop-up kitchens doing hog roasts to black-tie, sit-down dinners, there is a broad range of amazing event caterers around. They use local food producers and prepare high-quality food to suit all tastes and budgets. Your wedding party marquee will be in for a treat!
